End of Half Term Task

You should have completed your slideshare conventions task. (This will provide an excellent framework for Evaluation Question 1)

On Wednesday I want you to rehearse a short (30 sec) sequence)
You must direct your actor(s) and rehearse ready for filming on Thursday
Only limited Miss en Scene (location, props costume etc are not important at this planning stage) However you will be assessed on the Camera shots you take and your Direction of the short film. You will also be the Cameraman.

We will edit ready to present to the class next Thursday 19th October (Last lesson before half -term)

Your end of half term mark will be supported by 20 + posts on your blog specifically showing research in the key conventions

This Assessment grade will be reported

This Week

Three  focuses from last week's assessment:

Time Management: to gain Level 4 marks - work must be completed on time
Accuracy: Work on Music videos was not complete. This is for a 'Research' grade and a number of students did little or no research. The examples that I had posted on my blog were not even used by some.
If you want to get a good grade you MUST show evidence of quality Research

Use of New media to support your posts. This is key. Images and links are not just to make your posts 'pretty (They do however) They provide real examples of Media Products and show you understand the convention associated with them.

Research thoroughly and Accurately
Please go back and complete the 'Conventions' work increasing and demonstrating your level of research.

By Wednesday you must start using each convention and post examples of how and why it is used for your chosen media brief

Only when this is completed can we progress on to the Planning stage and begin the construction of your coursework artefacts.

This weeks task - Conventions Presentation

Research Task to present this Thursday (28th September 2017)

Please note: Unfinished work or non-attendance will receive a U grade for this terms first progress grade.

Please make sure your posts are up to date from last week's task and continue to post approx 5 more posts to show your work on this Research task.

The Task to present on Thursday Period 2.
I introduced this to you on Wednesday 20th September - so I trust your research is well underway

Using your choice of brief:
Select the Main task e.g. Music Video, Trailer, Documentary.
(Do not include the ancillary tasks at this stage.) and create a Power point (or Key note ) presentation examining the conventions of you main task video.

Method
Read carefully and follow accurately.
  • Label this work as ‘Research’
  • Title each post with a clear explanation of what you are doing
  • Research as many conventions as possible - this is will be key to the de-construction and construction of your work
  • Use Search engines (Google etc) to direct your research from a variety of sources.
  • Please use Video links, & mages to support your analytical writing.
  • Reference multiple style models to show the extent of your research. Referencing 1 or 2 will severely limit your grades
  • Upload your finished Powerpoint/Key Note to Slideshare for Thursday’s marking sessions.

NB: Unfinished work or non-attendance will receive a U grade for this terms first progress grade.

On Thursday we will use the points above to group mark your work.

Remember this will provide most of the content for Evaluation Question 1 and if you do this thoroughly your Evaluation Mark (& your research & Planning marks will benefit)

Make sure you post ( at least 5 posts) and explain the research you are doing?

At the end of this task you will have a clear understanding of the Conventions for your chosen brief.

Please use the Media language (in bold) in Evaluation question 1 in your posts ref:

'In which ways does your Media Product use, develop or challenge forms & Conventions of Media Products'

The week ahead

We will give you some time to finish your Pre-lim tasks from last year:

Research Carefully and BLOG everything you do.
By the end off this week you must:
  1. Have created an A2 blog - (most did this at the end of last year) with your name and A2media in the address.
  2. Begin compiling potential Style Models videos that will influence your potential construction task
  3. The Next stage will be to identify the conventions of these videos and tentatively begin to analyse them.

This Half -Terms work will provide most of the Material for Evaluation Question 1 which asks:

"In which ways does your Media Product use, develop or challenge forms & Conventions of Media Products "

Post on your Blog at every opportunity. e'g 3 posts a lesson = 9 per week in 30 weeks = 270 posts = 20/20 for your Research & Planning.

Using Style models to support your work.

Trailer:
Extended

The length of Trailer YOU should model your construction on:

Music Video
Beyonce

Ancillary Takes - Real Media Product
